The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab, has released the admission schedule for the 2025-26 academic session for Schools of Eminence (SOE) and Meritorious Schools. The Joint Entrance Examination, required for admission to these schools, will be conducted on March 16, 2025 (Sunday) for Class 9 and April 6, 2025 (Sunday) for Class 11, as per the dates specified by SCERT Punjab.
The online application process commenced on January 24, 2025. Students currently studying in Class 8 and Class 10 in Punjab schools are eligible to apply for Class 9 and Class 11 admissions, respectively. The application deadline is February 25, 2025, for Class 9 and February 27, 2025, for Class 11.

Students seeking admission to Punjab Schools of Eminence and Meritorious Schools must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Students currently studying in Class 8 are eligible to apply for admission to Class 9.
Students currently studying in Class 10 are eligible to apply for admission to Class 11.
Candidates must have successfully passed their previous class examination at the time of admission.
Final admission will be granted only to students who qualify the aptitude test conducted by SCERT Punjab.
Online Application: Candidates must apply online via schoolofeminence.pseb.ac.in
Aptitude Test: Students must clear the Common Aptitude Test conducted for Class 9 and Class 11.
Merit List & Seat Allocation: Based on test scores, merit lists will be published category-wise.
Stream Allotment for Class 11: Students will be allocated their preferred streams based on their performance in relevant sections of the test.
Seat Distribution: If private school seats remain vacant, they will be transferred to government school students.
The Common Aptitude Test will be based on the syllabus of Class 8 for admission to Class 9 and Class 10 for admission to Class 11.
The exam will be bilingual (English and Punjabi).

Total Marks: 150 (1 mark per question)
Duration: 3 hours
The selection process for Punjab SOE and Meritorious Schools is based on a structured evaluation system designed to identify deserving candidates. The details of the selection criteria is as follows:
35% in individual subjects
35% in reasoning
40% overall score
Reserved category students receive a 5% relaxation in sectional and aggregate cutoffs.
After the aptitude test, class-wise and category-wise merit lists are published on the official website for each School of Eminence.
The final selection is based strictly on merit.
Streams include Science (Medical), Science (Non-Medical), Commerce, and Humanities.
Allocation is determined by performance in relevant sections of the aptitude test.
Students with the highest scores in specific subject areas get priority for their chosen stream.
75% of seats are reserved for government school students.
25% of seats are reserved for private school students.
If private school seats remain unfilled, they are transferred to eligible government school students.
Additional reservations apply as per Punjab government policies for physically challenged students and other reserved categories.
