The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP) has implemented significant reforms to its AP intermediate education system, marking a transformative shift in AP syllabus, assessments, and examination structures.

AP Inter 1st Year Board Exam Cancelled

The change involves the abolition of public AP inter examinations for the first year. The board will not conduct the AP intermediate exams for the first year, instead, schools will conduct the exam on their level.

Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, public AP inter exams will be conducted only after the completion of the second year. The changes will be implemented in Science, Arts and Language subjects.

To evaluate student performance during the AP intermediate first year, colleges will now conduct internal exams. This move aims to create a less stressful learning environment, allowing students ample time to adapt to the revised AP 1st-year curriculum. The department has invited feedback from students and parents on this decision until January 26, 2025, emphasizing a balanced approach that prioritises both learning and evaluation.

Started NCERT Books in AP Inter 1st Year 2025

The introduction of NCERT textbooks in the first year of Intermediate education from the 2025-26 academic year is expected to better align students with the curriculum of national-level competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE. As part of these educational reforms, the Andhra Pradesh government has abolished the public examinations for the first year. Instead of board-conducted exams, respective colleges will now be responsible for conducting internal assessments for the first year. The Board of AP intermediate education will continue to conduct public examinations only for the second year of Intermediate education.

Revised AP first-year Intermediate Syllabus

Furthermore, the AP first-year Intermediate syllabus will be aligned with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus from the 2025-26 academic year. This move aims to harmonize the state's educational framework with national standards. In addition, the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) plans to introduce updates to NCERT textbooks and syllabi that have remained unchanged for several years, ensuring they align with current academic and competitive examination requirements.

These reforms are expected to significantly enhance the quality of AP intermediate 1st year education and better prepare students for their future academic pursuits.

The Department has announced significant reforms to its AP Intermediate Education system, aiming for a more holistic and student-centric approach. Key changes include:

  • Streamlined Mathematics: The Mathematics syllabus will be revised, merging two existing papers into a single, more comprehensive examination.

  • Integrated Biology: Botany and Zoology are proposed to be integrated into a unified Biology subject.

  • Enhanced Language Options: Students will continue to have the flexibility to choose from diverse languages, including Telugu, Sanskrit, and Urdu.

  • Emphasis on Internal Assessments: Internal practical marks will be introduced across all subjects, with 20 marks allocated for continuous evaluation.

Implementation Timeline

The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) invites feedback from students, parents, and educators on these proposed reforms. Stakeholders can provide their valuable input through the official BIEAP website until January 26, 2025. These reforms are slated for implementation in the upcoming academic year. Detailed guidelines and revised syllabi will be released following the public consultation period.
