Is CBSE A Popular Choice? Analysis Of Graduating Students From CBSE Schools Across India

In 2021 the number of students who registered with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) increased. Along with that the percentage of successful students for the Class 10 CBSE board exam also increased. It jumped by 7.5 percentage points from the previous year. It has been observed that over the last three years, girl students participation is higher than the male students.

The CBSE is the most popular board in the country, most Indian students complete their education till the higher secondary level from CBSE board. CBSE has more than 24,000 affiliated schools across the country and also has around 240 schools in 26 nations around the world. As per the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2017, CBSE students are far more outshine the students from other state boards.

Careers360 analysed last three years data of CBSE students successfully completing Class 10, based on gender. This article is based on our findings and it also includes the region-wise increase in the number of registered students in 2021 as well as the percentage of successful students.

Passing Percentage: Gender Diversity

Girl candidates who were successful in CBSE class 10 boards was higher than the boy students over the last three years. After Covid-19 lockdown, the total pass percentage of students jumped by almost 7.5 per cent in the year 2021.

Region-wise Pass Percentage

In 2021, the percentage of students who cleared Class 10 increased in every region of India. Among the 16 regions of India, as per CBSE, the percentage of students passing Class 10 in 2020 ranged from 79 per cent to 99 per cent. With just one region, which is Thiruvananthapuram, having more than 99 per cent of students passing in 2020. Whereas in 2021, most regions had around 99 percentage of students passing, except for Guwahati region having 90.54 percent of students passing.

Registered Candidates

The number of registered students increased in all the regions except the Thiruvananthapuram region. There were 71,047 registered students in 2020 in Thiruvananthapuram but it decreased by 1,455 students in 2021.

Delhi east and west regions were the top in terms of registered students.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, a ‘’Virtual Inspection of School’’ system was developed for inspection as schools were closed and the physical inspection was not possible.
