Twenty-six is how we write 26 in English. For example, if we wanted to read 26, we would say, “This number is twenty-six.” 26 is a natural number. In mathematics, natural numbers are those that start with 1. It is a 2-digit number with different place values, i.e., the digit’s position in a number.
The position of a digit in a number is referred to as its place value. For example, “1” and “5” have different positions in the number 15, i.e., they have different place values. While “1” has the place value “tens,” the place value of “5” is “ones.”
If we go further, we have hundred, thousand, ten thousand, and so on place values to describe the position of each digit in a number. The below table describes the place values and their numeric meaning:
Ten Thousand | Thousand | Hundred | Tens | Ones |
10000 | 1000 | 100 | 10 | 1 |
Therefore, for the number 26, we have the following place values:
Tens | Ones |
2 | 6 |
The number 26 can be written in words according to the place value described above. From the table, we can say that “2” is in the ‘tens’ place and “6” is in the “ones” place.
Therefore, the expansion of the number 26 is:
\begin{aligned}
&2 \times \text { Ten }+6 \times \text { One } \\
&=2 \times 10+6 \times 1 \\
&=26 \\
&=\text {Twenty six }
\end{aligned}
Thus, in this way, 26 can be written as ‘twenty six.’
26 is an even number. An even number is every number that leaves zero as a remainder when divided by 2. The numbers 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 and any number ending with any of them are also even when divided by 2. The numbers 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 and any number ending with any of them are also even. For example, 12, 44, 68, 80, etc. are also even numbers. Hence, 26 is also even, as it will give zero as a remainder when divided by 2.
It is also a composite number whose remainder will be zero when divided by some numbers, including 1 and itself. For example, 16 can be divided by 1, itself (16), 2, 4, and 8, so the remainder will be zero. Thus, 26 is also a composite number.
If we divide a number by another number such that the remainder comes to be zero, the former number is said to be divisible by the latter number. For example, if we divide the number “12” by “2”, the remainder comes to zero. Hence, we can say that 12 is divisible by 2. Similarly, 26 is divisible by 1, 2, and 13.
You can find out the detailed other number in words article list below:-
26 is succeeded by 25 and preceded by 27.
