In English, we write the number 1400 as ‘one thousand four hundred. If we want to read or say the number written here, i.e., 1400, we would say, “the number is one thousand four hundred”.
1400 is a 4-digit natural number.
It is also an even number. Whenever a number is divided by 2 such that zero should be the remainder, it is called an even number. One-digit even numbers are 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8, while some two-digit numbers are 12, 34, 70, etc.
1400 is also a composite number. A number, when divided by some other numbers also, including 1 and itself, the remainder is zero, it is said to be a composite number.
In the number, the digits’ position is referred to as the place value.
The place values for three and four-digit numbers are hundred and ten thousand, respectively, to describe the position of digits in a number.
Thousand | Hundred | Ten | One |
1 | 4 | 0 | 0 |
Therefore, each digit in 1400 has the following place values:
The place value of 1 is ‘thousand’.
The place value of 4 is ‘hundred’.
The place value of 0 is ‘ten’.
The place value of 0 is ‘one’.
In 1400, the following place values are as follows: ‘1’ in the ‘thousand’ place, ‘4’ in the ‘hundred’ place, ‘0’ in the ‘ten’ place, and ‘0’ in the ‘one’ place. With the help of the place values of the number, we can write;
\begin{align*}
&1 \times \text {Thousand}+4 \times \text {Hundred}+0 \times \text {Ten}+0 \times \text {One}
\\&=1 \times 1000+4 \times 100+0 \times 10+0 \times 1
\\&=1400
\\&=\text {One Thousand Four Hundred}
\end{align*}
Thus, 1400 is written as ‘one thousand four hundred.’
We say that the first number is divisible by the second number if we get zero as the remainder when the former is divided by the latter. For example, when we divide 35 by 5 and 7, we get zero as the remainder. Hence, 35 is divisible by 5 and 7.
To determine the divisibility of a number, there are different divisibility rules applied. For example, a number is divisible by 2 if it is an even number.
An odd number will not be divisible by 2. For example, 18 is divisible by 2, but not 17, as 18 is even while 17 is an odd number. 18 is also divisible by 3, as the sum of its digits is 9, a multiple of 3.
In this manner, we find that 1400 is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and so on.
Any number that can be expressed as the multiplication of any other integer is known as a perfect square number. Similarly, if the number can be expressed by multiplying thrice by any other integer, it is known as a perfect cube number. 1400 is neither a perfect square nor a perfect cube.
