21500 can be written in words as Twenty One Thousand Five Hundred. For example, if you went on a trek up a hill that was 21500 feet high, you could tell your friends We climbed twenty-one thousand five hundred feet. Let us look at how we came to write this number in words using the place value system. Also, we will look at some interesting facts about the number 21500.
In order to write the number 21500 in words we will first look into where each number will be placed in the place value system. Refer to the following table.
Place value name | Ten Thousand | Thousand | Hundred | Ten | One |
Digit | 2 | 1 | 5 | 0 | 0 |
Place value | \begin{aligned} & 2 \times 10^4 \end{aligned} | \begin{aligned} & 1 \times 10^3 \end{aligned} | \begin{aligned} & 5 \times 10^2 \end{aligned} | \begin{aligned} & 0 \times 10^1 \end{aligned} | \begin{equation} 0 \times 10^{0} \end{equation} 0100 |
As we can see from the table above, 2 is in the ten thousandth place, 1 is in the thousandth place and 5 is in the hundredth place. We will not focus on the places with zeros in it as we do not use them to write the number in words.
Since 2 is in a place value with tens in it we will use the cumulative name twenty for it. Therefore, we can write the number as Twenty One Thousand Five Hundred.
Note that this number will be written in words similarly in the Indian numeric system and the International numeric system as these five place values are similar in both systems.
The number 21500 can be represented mathematically as follows
\begin{aligned}
&2 \times \text{Ten Thousand} + 1 \times \text{Thousand} + 5 \times \text{Hundred} + 0 \times \text{Ten} +0 \times \text{One}\\
&=2 \times 10000 +1 \times 1000 + 5 \times +100 + 0 \times 10 + 0 \times 1\\
&=20000+1000+500\\
&=21500
\end{aligned}
Following are some interesting facts about the number 21500
An even number can be identified by looking at the number in ones place. If ones place has 2, 4, 6, 8 or 0 then it is an even number. Since 21500 has a 0 in its ones place, it is an even number.
Another way to identify an even number is if it is completely divided by the number 2.
\begin{aligned}
&\frac{21500}{2}=10750
\end{aligned}
As we can see, 21500 is completely divided by the number 2. Therefore it is an even number.
A number is considered a composite number if it has more than two factors. Following are some of the factors of the number 21500
\begin{aligned}
&1, 2, 4, 5, 25, 43, 50, 86, 125, 172, 215,\\
&250, 430, 860, 2150, 4300, 5375, 10750, 21500
\end{aligned}
Since 21500 has more than 2 factors it is considered a composite number.
The prime factors of 21500 are 2, 5, and 43.
\begin{aligned}
&2^2 \times 5^3 \times 43 = 21500
\end{aligned}
Following is the square root of 21500
\begin{aligned}
&\sqrt[2]{21500}=146.628
\end{aligned}
Since the square root of 21500 is not a whole number, it is not a perfect square.
You can find out the detailed other number in words article list below:-
21500 can be written in words as Twenty One Thousand Five Hundred.
The above problem can be solved as follows
\begin{aligned}
&500 \times 43 = 21500
\end{aligned}
A perfect cube is a number whose cuber root is a whole number. When we find the cube root of 21500 we get the following.
\begin{aligned}
&\sqrt[3]{21500}=27.806
\end{aligned}
As we can see the cube root of 21500 is not a whole number, which means it is not a perfect cube.
As a rule of thumb, if a number has less than three zeros in the ones, tens and hundreds place, it is not a perfect cube. 21500 has only two zeros. Hence, not a perfect cube.
Examples of perfect cubes can be 1000, 8000, 27000 etc.
Any number which only has the number 1 and itself as its factor is considered a prime number. Numbers like 1, 2, 5, 13, 17, 23 etc are considered prime numbers. The opposite of prime numbers is a composite number
Any number which has 0 in its ones place will have 2 and 5 as its prime factors. Let's take 21500 as an example.
\begin{aligned}
&\21500 = 2150 \times 10\\
&= 2150 \times 2 \times 5
\end{aligned}
