Introduction

When we came across the word tables, we all would think about the hardest part of it which is multiplication. But there are some other faces, they are addition and subtraction tables. The most widely used form is multiplication tables, as it is necessary to work out other forms of Maths.

Most probably, in schools we just learn up to the 10th table in primary, and furthermore up to the 20th table in secondary education. Here, we are going to learn the multiplication table of 68. It is actually used while simplifying, and in steps of some big problems to derive the answer.

Interesting Riddles

1. How do you make the number 7 an even number without addition, subtraction, multiplication and division?

Ans: Drop the “S” in Seven. If it does, the word will become “Even”.

2. A sphere has three, a circle has two and a point has zero. What is it?

Ans: Dimensions. Thus, a sphere is three-dimensional, a circle is two-dimensional and a point has no dimensions.

3. What two whole positive numbers have a one-digit answer when multiplied and a two-digit answer when added?

Ans: 1 and 9. When we add 1 and 9, the answer is 10 two-digits. When we multiply 1 and 9, the answer is 9 one-digit.

Solved Problems

1. Sheela is having her exams in 2 months, but she wants to know the exact count of days remaining for her revision, that her exam starts on October 23 and Sheela is starting studies on August 16.

Ans: To help Sheela, we need to subtract August 16 from the exam date. While subtracting, use numbers in place of months. To make it further easier, cancel the years as they are the same and subtract only the date and month without a full stop. Thus,

23.10.2022 - 16.08.2022 = 68 days

2. Ravi is approximately spending Rs.68 per week for bus fare. How much will he spend in 24 weeks?

Ans: To know how much he will spend in 24 weeks, we need to multiply 68 and 24.

\begin{equation}

68 \times 24=1632

\end{equation}

1689681697391

Thus, he will spend Rs.1,632 approximately in 24 weeks.

3. 1000 litres of water is supplied for 4 families for their daily usage. At the end of the day, there are 320 litres of water remaining in the tank. If they are using equal amounts, how much are they using?

Ans: With the remaining amount of water, we can easily get the amount of water used by subtracting it from 1000 litres.

1000-320=680 litres

We know the equal amount of water used by 4 families, we have to divide the amount of water used by the number of families used.

\begin{equation}

680 \div 4=170 1689681697329

\end{equation}

Hence, each family uses 170 litres of water for one day.

4. The distance between Chennai and Coimbatore is 680 km. If a train is moving at a speed of 85 km/hr. How much time will it take to reach Coimbatore?

Ans: If the train maintains the same speed, it will reach Coimbatore within 8 hrs.

\begin{equation}

680 \div 85=8

1689681697201

\end{equation}

Time’s Table Of 68

The time's table basically represents that when a number is added to itself the number of times equal to the number we intend to multiply it to, the repeated addition yields the same result as multiplication. It is shown below in the table.

68 × 1 = 68

68

68 × 2 = 136

68+68=136

68 × 3 = 204

68+68+68=204

68 × 4 = 272

68+68+68+68=272

68 × 5 = 340

68+68+68+68+68=340

68 × 6 = 408

68+68+68+68+68+68=408

68 × 7 = 476

68+68+68+68+68+68+68=476

68 × 8 = 544

68+68+68+68+68+68+68+68=544

68 × 9 = 612

68+68+68+68+68+68+68+68+68=612

68 × 10 = 680

68+68+68+68+68+68+68+68+68+68=680
