There are no fixed passing marks for clearing NEET. The cut-off criteria differ year-to-year and paper-to-paper depending upon the number of students who appeared, number of seats to be filled, and difficulty level of the paper.

The students are considered to clear the NEEt exam if they are in the top 50 percentile of the total students for the general category, 40 percentile for a candidate of the reserved category, and 45 percentile marks for the PH(Physically Handicapped)candidate. Top 50 percentile of total students means top 50% of the students. So, the cut-off mark will be declared by the student who ranks at exactly 50% of the student. For example, If 10 lakh students appear for the exam, then the score by the student with the rank of 5 lakh will be declared as the cut-off score for the general category. The cut-off score for students of the reserved category and PH category will be decided by the score of students at 4 lakh and 4.5 lakh rank respectively.
