I have 3yrs drop after 12th,can i take KVPY SB in college first year?
Hello Monika,
Unfortunately, you cannot take the KVPY SB (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) exam in your first year of college if you have taken a 3-year drop after 12th grade. The KVPY SB stream is specifically for students who are in the 1st year of an undergraduate program in basic sciences, but it typically requires that you join college immediately or shortly after completing 12th grade. The gap of 3 years might disqualify you from eligibility. It's best to check the latest KVPY guidelines for any updates or exceptions.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.
Im a second dropper Ill be in bsc first year....am I eligible for kvpy?
Hello,
Yes, you are eligible for KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) if you are in the first year of B.Sc. during the current academic year. KVPY eligibility criteria allow students enrolled in the first year of undergraduate courses in Basic Sciences such as B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math., Integrated M.Sc., etc., to apply. Ensure you meet the academic criteria and prepare well for the aptitude test conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore to qualify for the fellowship.
Hope this helps you ,
Thank you

Hey mentors, just curious....If a jee aspirant decides to actually repeat their class 12th(give boards again) Instead of taking the usual drop and theyve never sat in any kvpy exams before.... repeating the class 12th, will they now be eligible for kvpy-sx?
Yes, if a JEE aspirant decides to repeat their Class 12th and has never taken the KVPY exams before, they can become eligible for the KVPY-SX stream. The KVPY-SX stream is for students in Class 12, and since they are effectively repeating the year, they would meet the eligibility criteria for that stream. Will cut-off of JEE ADVANCED for IISc Bangalore come down as KVPY is now abolished??
Hello Aspirant,
Yes, it is right that kvpy has been removed to get admission in iisc Bangalore but that doesn't mean that the cut offs will come down because it depends on many factors such as :-
- Number of applicants applying for iisc Bangalore
- Difficulty level of the examination in different years.
- Previous year cut offs
- Number of seats in the college
If all these factors are to be considered then it is expected that the cut off shall come down this year but again many things govern the cut offs.
Any student doing bachelors in basic sciences like physics, botany etc but through open college like IGNOU so is he/she eligible to give KVPY exam in their first year???
The eligibility for the KVPY-SB examination:
An undergraduate program in Basic sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S) in the academic year 2021-22 and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.
So there are no conditions available for the distance education or regular students. As a result, the student who are studying the basic sciences in Open University then also you are eligible.
