Introduction

A multiplication table is a mathematical tool, in the form of a chart that conveys the product of two numbers. Usually, a table will be about any one number. That is if we want to write a table of 25, then in a distinct arrangement, 25 will be multiplied by one to ten. So the table will contain multiples of 25.

Multiplication means 'repeated addition. Multiplication tables (also known as the times' table) are memorized by students for the simplification of calculations. Studying multiplication tables will enhance your mental math ability and will speed up the process of multiplication.

More About the Multiplication Tables

The history of multiplication tables has a long path to go. The first multiplication table was first written by the Babylonians about 4000 years ago. They used 60 as a base. After that, the Chinese used 10 as a base in about 305 BC. They also used the decimal multiplication system.

To obtain a multiplication table, we have to multiply that number by consecutive natural numbers.

25×1 is read as twenty-five times one is twenty-five.

25×2 is read as twenty-five times two are fifty.

This is read in this way because multiplication is through repeated addition.

  • In words:

Twenty-five ones is

Twenty-five.

One hundred and seventy-five.

Twenty-five eighths are

Two hundred.

Twenty-five nines are

Two hundred and twenty-five.

Twenty-five tens are

Two hundred and fifty.

  • In this table, the one's place will always be zero or five.

  • Also, remember that this table will always end at 25, 50, 75, and 00. This will be so helpful in learning this table.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is the answer to 25 multiplied by 12?
