Multiplication table is a structured approach to the product of any particular number with the other numbers. 242 is a three-digit number, so it is not necessary to learn its table. However, professionals and experts are needed in some cases to work in some particular fields. Multiplication of a number is equal to adding a number several times. It will be cleared with an example-
1. 242 × 3 = 242 + 242 + 242 = 726
242 \times\ 3 = 242 + 242 = 726
2. 242 × 5 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 = 1110
242 \times\ 5 = 242 + 242 + 242 = 1,110
To solve any complex problem, at least we should know the tables from 2 to 10. Generally, in schools, we are taught to learn tables from 2 to 20 on your tips.
Factorization of 242 is 121 × 2, 121 cannot be further factorized as it is a prime number. So, for this table either we should know tables 121 and 2 or learn table 242 itself. We can also do it by addition method but takes too much time so, we rather do it by product method or learn its multiplication table. So, we will be learning the table right after this.
As we have seen that there is no trick to learning this table, we will learn it by both addition and product method-
242 × 1 = 242 = 242 |
242 × 2 = 484 = 242 + 242 |
242 × 3 = 726 = 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 4 = 968 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 5 = 1210 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 6 = 1452 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 7 = 1694 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 8 = 1936 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 9 = 2178 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
242 × 10 = 2420 = 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 + 242 |
If we observe this table, we will find that it is the same as the table of 240, only the last digit is a table of 2 and if two digits come in the table of two than it is taken as carrying my previous number. Or, in simple language, we can say that for the 242 tables, we will just add the multiples of 2 the same number of times as in the 240’s table. I will show it to you.
As we have seen that there is no trick to learning this table, we will learn it.
242 × 1 = 242 |
242 × 2 = 484 |
242 × 3 = 726 |
242 × 4 = 968 |
242 × 5 = 1210 |
242 × 6 = 1452 |
242 × 7 = 1694 |
242 × 8 = 1936 |
242 × 9 = 2178 |
242 × 10 = 2420 |
242 × 11 = 2662 |
242 × 12 = 2904 |
242 × 13 = 3146 |
242 × 14 = 3388 |
242 × 15 = 3630 |
242 × 16 = 3872 |
242 × 17 = 4114 |
242 × 18 = 4356 |
242 × 19 = 4598 |
242 × 20 = 4840 |
If we observe this table, we will find that it is the same as the table of 240, only the last digit is a table of 2 and if two digits come in the table of two than it is taken as carrying my previous number. Or, in simple language, we can say that for the 242 tables, we will just add the multiples of 2 the same number of times as in the 240’s table. I will show it to you.
For example-
240 × 3 = 720 & 2 × 3 = 6
Then, 242 × 3 = 726
242 \times\ 3 = 720\
2 \times\ 3 = 6
i.e., 720 + 6 = 726
720 + 6 = 726
1. Calculate the product of 242 and 22 by the trick method.
Ans. 242 × 22 = (240 × 22) + (2 × 22)
242 × 22 = 5280 + 44 = 5324
\begin{array}{l}
242 \times 22=(240 \times 22)+(2 \times 22) \
242 \times 22=5280+44=5324
\end{array}
2. Calculate 242 × 40 and add 242 to the product.
Ans. (242 × 40) + 242 can also be expressed as 242 × 41
And, 242 × 41 = 9,922
242 \times\ 41 = 9,922
3. How many total pencils are there in boxes if there are 242 boxes each containing 5 pencils?
Ans. Total boxes = 242
1 box = 5 pencils
The total number of pencils in boxes are,
242 × 5 = 1210
242 \times\ 5 = 1210
4. How many times 242 should be multiplied to get 2420?
Ans. As we know,
242 × 10 = 2420
242 \times\ 10 = 2,420
So, 2420 is the answer to this question.
5. How much an intern earns in a month if he/she is paid 242 Rs every day?
Ans. If he/ she earns 242 Rs on each day of the month.
As we know, 1 month = 30 days
Then,
242 × 30 = 7,260 Rs in a month
242 \times\ 30 = 7,260
242 × 726 = 1,75,692
\begin{array}{l}
242 \times\ 121 \times\ 2 \times\ 3 = 242 \times\ 242 \times\ 3\
242 \times\ 726 = 1,75,692
\end{array}
\begin{array}{l}
(242)^2=242 \times 242 \
242 \times 242=58,564
\end{array}
Total boxes = 242
1 box = 8 columns
Total cups needed to fill up the space are-
242 \times\ 8 = 1936
