Introduction

A nonagon often known as an enneagon is a nine-sided polygon. The name "nonagon" is a prefix hybrid construction derived from Latin (nonus, "ninth," + gonon), used equivalently, documented as early as the 16th century in French as "nonogone," and as early as the 17th century in English as "nonagon." Though less popular than "nonagon," the word "enneagon" is arguably more accurate[1] because it is derived from the Greek enneagon (v, "nine," + (from = "corner")).

A nonagon has a total of 27 diagonals.

Area of Nonagon

The area of a nonagon with a side of length ‘l’ is given as.

A=6.18182(l^{^{2}})

Angles in Nonagon

A nonagon has nine angles. A nonagon's angles add up to 1260°.

Nine outside angles make up a nonagon. A nonagon's outside angles add up to 360° in total.

Construction of Nonagon

There are extremely ancient ways of construction that result in very close approximations, even if a regular nonagon cannot be created with a compass and straightedge (9 = 32, which is not a product of distinct Fermat primes).

Neusis or enabling the usage of an angle tri-sector can also be used to construct it.

Symmetry of Nonagon

The regular enneagon has order 18 Dih9 symmetry. Dih3 and Dih1 are two subgroup dihedral symmetries, whereas Z9, Z3, and Z1 are three cyclic group symmetries.

On the enneagon, these 6 symmetries can be perceived in 6 different symmetries. These are labelled by John Conway using a letter and grouping. [4] Regular form symmetry is fully expressed as r18 and is completely lacking in a1. Depending on whether reflection lines cross through vertices (d for diagonal) or edges (p for perpendiculars), the dihedral symmetries are divided, and I when they do both. The core gyration orders of the cyclic symmetries in the middle column are denoted by the letter g.

There are one or more degrees of freedom for irregular forms in each subgroup symmetry. The only subgroup without degrees of freedom is the g9 subgroup, which can be viewed as directed edges.

Uses in Real Life

The Bahá Faith's temples, known as Bahá' Houses of Worship, must be hexagonal.

An atypical nonagon is the US Steel Tower. In Lithuania, Gars Gaudykl.
