Administration of Corporation

The corporation was collectively administered by officers and elected members. They are the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and other officers.

The Head of the Municipal Corporation is The Mayor. A Mayor will be elected through an indirect election. As per Municipal Law, the Mayor shall be elected by the elected Councillors from among themselves. Mostly the political party which won the majority place in the local body grabs the seat. The term of an officer of a Mayor is 5 years.

  • He presides over the meeting of the Corporation Council.

Municipal Commissioner

4. Primary Health Facilities

Even if a clean and neat environment is achieved, diseases are unpredictable. So, highly populated areas like cities should be available with numerous health care centres and Central Hospitals to provide the people with proper health assistance.

5. Corporation Schools

Next to health, education is the most important need to develop. Even though Educational Department starts the Government schools, the maintenance is vested towards Municipality. It should ensure that the school buildings are safe with basic needs and should be inspected periodically by the officials for the appropriate report.

6. Sewage System

This is a basic system to regulate a peaceful life in a city. It should be built across all the streets to properly drain the drainage water and rainwater into the outlet of the city. It should be maintained perfectly to avoid floods and waterborne diseases.

7. Solid Waste Management

The Corporation has a big responsibility in this, as it has to collect the garbage from the houses and other sources like from market, companies, hotels etc. It should be processed well to get recycled products and natural fertilisers.

8. Place for Parks and Playgrounds

It is necessary to allow a required amount of land to build community parks and playgrounds to promote the natural and social health of the society.
