On October 31, 1875, in the Gujarati village of Nadiad, Leuva Patel Patidar parish, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born. Vallabhbhai Jhavverbhai Patel, better known as Sardar Patel, is his full name. His mother, Ladbai, had a spiritual bent, while his father, Zaverbhai Patel, was a soldier in the army of Queen Jhansi. Since he was little, he has always had a strong personality. He joined the Indian National Congress, and his first protests against British crimes were Satyagrahas in Gujarat. Later, in 1942, he actively joined and volunteered for the Quit India Movement, closely working with Gandhiji.
He suffered a severe heart attack and died on December 15, 1950. In 2014, the Government of India declared October 31 which is the Birthdate of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day, honouring him as one of the founders of an independent India.
The statue was titled 'Statue of Unity and sold for over 200 crore rupees. Located in Gujarat near the Narmada River, it is built with iron collected from all over the country. The statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is about 182 metres high. Having successfully united the states of India, he was later proclaimed "United India" and "Bismarck of India". Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contribution to Indian independence is indescribable.

His father, Zaverbhai Patel, served in Queen Jhansi's army, and his mother, Ladbai, was spiritually inclined. He has been a courageous character since childhood. At 22, when everyone graduated, Sardar Patel had completed his studies, so everyone thought he would get a regular job.
After graduating from college, Sardar Patel continued his law studies and later travelled to England to become a barrister. After returning to India, he continued his law practice in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. His life was exciting and inspiring. First, he achieved his professional goals with little support from others and then played a crucial role in uniting the people of India and fighting for the country's independence. His belief in the principle of unity in diversity and his collective commitment to the common purpose of India's independence made him the Iron Man of India.
Due to his leadership qualities and ability to connect with crowds, he was awarded the title of Sardar Patel. After independence, he played a vital role in the integration of India. Through his travels through remote areas, he united the rulers of monarchies and persuaded them to become part of one India - One Nation. After independence, he was appointed Minister of Home Affairs of India and, simultaneously, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces.
His ideology of integration laid the foundation for unity. In 1991, he received the Bharat Ratna Award posthumously because of his great contribution to the nation. Various events, such as the Run for Unity, are organised during his birthday. Different races usually take the form of marathons with participants from other disciplines. Unity Run is a reminder of Sardar Patel's outstanding and uncompromising commitment to national unity.
Later, he also became India's First Deputy Prime Minister. He is one of the three leaders who led India from 1947 until 1950. Sardar Patel began to fall ill soon after the summer of 1950 and died on December 15, 1950, after suffering a massive heart attack at his house in Birla, Maharashtra, India. He has been a great inspiration to the country's youth during the liberation movement and even to date. He is called his self-made man in the truest sense.
Sardar Patel Jayanti continues to be celebrated with the same enthusiasm and respect for the man and his determination. Not only was he a veteran freedom fighter and close associate of Mahatma Gandhi, but he was also a brilliant political visionary. The united and one India that we see today has been possible only because of the outstanding efforts of Sardar Patel.
