Introduction:

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a postgraduate graduate engineering entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). GATE is a computer-based test which is conducted at a national level. Through this test, students can further go for courses like PhD (Doctor of Philosophy)/ MTech (Master of Technology). GATE is conducted once a year. Every year nearly 10,00,000 students participate of which only 15% to 17% qualify.

GATE Full Form:

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering

Eligibility:

  • Graduation from Science and Technology.

  • B.tech (Bachelor of Technology) /B.E (Bachelor of Engineering) /B.PHARM (Bachelor of Pharmacy) /B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) Completed and final year students.

  • No age limit is required.

Exam Mode:

Online computer-based.

Types of Questions in GATE:

There are basically 3 types of questions asked in GATE, these are:

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

  • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)

  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions

There’s no negative marking in the Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) type questions. For Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) it is 3313% negative markings.
