Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a postgraduate graduate engineering entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). GATE is a computer-based test which is conducted at a national level. Through this test, students can further go for courses like PhD (Doctor of Philosophy)/ MTech (Master of Technology). GATE is conducted once a year. Every year nearly 10,00,000 students participate of which only 15% to 17% qualify.
GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering
Graduation from Science and Technology.
B.tech (Bachelor of Technology) /B.E (Bachelor of Engineering) /B.PHARM (Bachelor of Pharmacy) /B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) Completed and final year students.
No age limit is required.
Online computer-based.
There are basically 3 types of questions asked in GATE, these are:
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions
There’s no negative marking in the Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) type questions. For Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) it is 3313% negative markings.
Multiple choice questions | 1 Marks | 0.33 negative marking |
Multiple choice questions | 2 Marks | 0.66 negative marking |
Multiple Select Questions | 1 marks | NIL |
