How many Articles are there in the Indian Constitution?

The Constitution of India was adopted on November 26, 1949, and it contains 395 articles in 22 parts and 8 schedules. At present, the number of articles was increased to 448 due to the amendments made to the constitution. The constitution was framed by the Constituent Assembly of India and the members of the provisional assemblies elected by the people. The main members of the consituent assembly were Dr. B.R Ambedkar, chairman of the drafting committee, and Dr. Sachindanand Sinha was the temporary president of the consituent assembly. All the articles involved in the constitution include fundamental rights, rights and responsibilities for the people and all the things are included in it which are beneficial to the people all over the country.

Important Articles

Article 1: It says that India is a Union of states, the states and territories shall be specified in the first schedule. It mainly states that we the people affirm that the United States exists to serve its citizens.

Articles 14 to 18: Articles 14 to 18 come under part 4 of the Indian constitution. All these articles mainly deal with the Right to Equality”.

Article 14: It states that everyone is equal before the law.
Article 15: It states that prohibition of discrimination based on gender, religion, caste, place of birth, etc.
Article 16: It states that equality of opportunity in cases of public employment.
Article 17: It states the prevention of untouchability among the people.
Article 18: Prevention of states.

Articles 19 to 22: All these articles come under Right to Freedom.

Article 19: It states that guarantees of six fundamental rights to all the people.
Article 20: It states that protection in respect of conviction.
Article 21: It states that protection of personal liberty and life.
Article 22: It states that protection against arrest and detention in some cases.
