Hello,
Yes, a student who has passed Class 12 from Bihar Board can take admission in Calcutta University for UG 2025. You must have passed with the required percentage for the course you want to apply for.
Admission Process:
Calcutta University mostly gives admission on merit basis , which means they consider your Class 12 marks.
For most UG courses like B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com, no entrance test is required.
But for some specific courses like B.A. (Hons) in Mass Communication or some professional courses , the university or college may conduct an entrance test. It depends on the course.
Hope it helps !

For Bihar Board Class 12, if you have an additional subject and scored higher in it than one of your main subjects, the marks from the additional subject will be considered in the calculation of your overall percentage, replacing the marks of the lower-scoring main subject.
Additional Subject Inclusion:
The Bihar Board, like other boards, calculates your overall percentage based on the best 5 subjects you have taken, including any additional subjects.
Replacing Lower Scores:
If you score higher in an additional subject compared to one of your main subjects, the marks from the additional subject will be used instead of the lower marks from that main subject in the calculation of your overall percentage.
Passing Criteria:
To pass, you need to obtain at least 33% marks in each subject, including the additional subject.
Check your Marksheet:
Ensure that your final marksheet reflects the inclusion of the additional subject marks in the calculation of your overall percentage.
Contact your school or the Bihar Board:
If you have any doubts or discrepancies regarding your marksheet, contact your school or the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) for clarification.
Dear aspirant!
Hope you are doing well !!
It seems like you're asking about how good marks in an additional subject in your Bihar Board Class 12 exams can help you in the future. Here's some guidance:
Improved Overall Percentage : If you perform well in your additional subject, it can increase your overall percentage, which may be beneficial for applying to universities or colleges where the percentage criteria are important for admission.
Eligibility for Specific Courses : Some courses or universities may have a specific subject requirement. If your additional subject aligns with the course you want to pursue, a good score in that subject could make you eligible for those courses.
Competitive Exams : If you're planning to appear for competitive exams (like JEE, NEET, etc.), additional subject marks typically won't impact those exams directly. However, a good score can help you in securing better rankings or fulfilling eligibility criteria for certain exams.
Career Opportunities : If the additional subject is related to the field you want to enter (for example, a language, computer science, etc.), it can help you stand out in job applications or internships that require those skills.
Ultimately, a strong performance in your additional subject can boost your academic profile, opening up more opportunities for further studies or career prospects. If you need more specific information regarding how to utilize your additional subject marks in a particular area, feel free to ask!
Hope it will be helpful!
To find your overall percentage in the Bihar Board 12th result, add the total marks obtained in all subjects, including theory and practicals. Divide this by the maximum possible marks for all subjects, then multiply the result by 100. This will give your final percentage.
