KVPY 2016 application starts from July 10; Exam on November 6

KVPY 2016 online registration will start from July 10 as per the notification released by examination authority- Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. The last date for KVPY 2016 registration is August 16 and the last date to submit the application form is August 23, 2016. KVPY 2016 exam is scheduled to be conducted on November 6, 2016, in online as well as offline mode at various designated centres across India.


Candidates can fill KVPY 2016 application form in online mode only. The registration of KVPY 2016 is a multistage procedure where the first stage involves obtaining an online registration number while the second and third stages include uploading of photograph and payment through the online payment gateway or bank challan.

The entrance test of KVPY 2016 is scheduled to be conducted on November 6 in a computer based and pen and paper based mode. Candidates have to choose their preference for an online or offline exam at the time of filling up the application form. There is no KVPY 2016 syllabus prescribed for the aptitude test, but students are tested as per the syllabus of class X/XII/First year of B.S/B.Sc/ B.Math/B.Stat /Int.M.Sc/M.S (as applicable).

how to check marks in kvpy if not selected?

Hello Aspirant,

it doesn't matter you are selected or not You can't check your marks now…

After the interview,another almost one month will be taken to prepare and complete the whole procedure of preparing the list of fellow students..

Approximately,in the month of APRIL a separate option will be given in their site where you can check your score…So,be patient..

Please make sure whether you're selected or not for interview from their website….the names of shortlisted candidates for Interview are given there..

you can choose your subjects in following:

Here we are providing the exam pattern of KVPY examination:

  • Exam Mode: The aptitude test will be conducted through online (Computer Based Test) mode.
  • Medium of Question Paper: The question paper will be asked both in English & Hindi Language.
  • Type of Questions: It is a multiple choice type question paper. All the questions are compulsory to attempt in Stream SA. There is an option to attempt any three sections in PART I & any two sections in PART II in Stream SB/SX.
  • Duration of Exam: The duration of the aptitude test will be three hours.
  • Sections: The question paper will contain two sections: PART I & PART II. There will be four sections in PART I & PART II.
  • Total Marks: The question paper will consist of 100 marks.

what is the cutoff marks in KVPY 2019 for SA stream (general)

Hi Arka

IISc Bangalore declared the cutoff for KVPY 2019 on 10 December 2019, about a month after the exam was held on 3 November 2019.

The cutoff for SA stream has been as follows:

  • General/ OBC - 44/100
  • SC/ ST - 32/100
  • PWD - 32/100

It has gone down from the previous years where the cutoff was 45, 54 and 55 marks out of 100 respectively for the years 2018, 2017 and 2016 for SA stream (General).

Does CMI offer direct admission to the KVPY scholars?

No, Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) does not offer direct admission to the KVPY Scholars.

CMI offers admission in two ways:

(1). Direct admission to the olympiad qualifiers (INMO, IMO qualifiers)

(2). Students qualifying the CMI's entrance exam held in May each year

KVPY scholars has to qualify the entrance exam conducted by CMI to get admission in the CMI.
