About NTSE 2020

NCERT has release the notification of NTSE 2019-20 online on its website ncert.nic.in. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an offline scholarship exam for class 10 students to encourage Sr. Sec. and higher studies in the field of Science and Social science.

  • NTSE Stage 1 Exam will be held on November 2, 3, and 17, 2019. NTSE Stage 2 Exam will be conducted by NCERT on May 10, 2020
  •  It is held in two stages: stage 1  and stage 2. SCERT or Directorate of Educational Research and Training of respective conducts the stage 1 at state level. NTSE Stage 2 is conducted by NCERT at national level.
  • Each stage has two papers- MAT (Metal Ability Test) and SAT (Scholastic Ablity Test) of 100 marks each. Students have 02 hours to complete one paper.
  • Candidates who qualify the both stage of NTSE 2020 will be awarded scholarships.  
  • A total of 2000 students will be shortlisted for the NTSE scholarships.

NTSE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • Students currently enrolled in class 10 from any recognized school/board including Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya were eligible to apply for stage 1 of NTSE 2020.
  • States cannot impose domicile restrictions for stage 1, however they may add additional eligibility conditions such as qualifying score of the previous class.
  • Students studying from the open board, below 18 years of age, unemployed and appearing in class 10 for the first time are also eligible to appear for NTSE 2020 Stage 1.
  • Only Indian students are allowed to appear for NTSE Stage 1 exam.
  • Students studying outside India can directly appear in Stage 2 Exam.

NTSE West Bengal Eligibility Criteria

  • A student must have cleared class 9 with 50% for general candidates (with a relaxation of 40% for reserved categories) and currently enrolled in class 10.
  • A student from the open board is also eligible to apply provided they must have scored 50% for general category (with the relaxation of 40% for reserved category) in their previous exams. They also must be below the age of 18 years.
  • Candidates belonging to OBC (non-creamy) as listed in the central list will be treated as OBC here.
  • Candidate must choose the district in accordance to the place of their residence.

NTSE Jammu & Kashmir Eligibility Criteria

The Student must have scored 60% (relaxation of 5%  for SC/ST categories) in class 9 and upcoming class 10 exam for respective Jammu and Kashmir province.

NTSE Uttarakhand Eligibility Criteria

In addition to general eligibility conditions, a candidate must have cleared class 9 with 65% marks for general and OBC category child with a relaxation of 55% for SC/ST/PWD category child to apply for NTSE Uttarakhand stage 1 exam.

NTSE Himachal Pradesh Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be presently enrolled in class 10 at a recognized school of HP board.
  • They must have passed class 9 with 60% for general category and 55% for SC/ST/OBC/PCG from any recognized school in HP board.
  • For candidate belonging to PCG category, disability should be equal to or more than 40%.

NTSE Kerala Eligibility Criteria

Students studying in class 10 from any recognized board are eligible to apply for NTSE Kerala stage 1 exam provided they have passed class 9 exam with 55% marks (excluding language subject).

NTSE Puducherry Eligibility Criteria

In addition to general eligibility, candidates availing NMMS scholarship are also allowed to appear for the stage 1 of NTSE Puducherry.

NTSE Stage 2 Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who qualify NTSE stage 1 state wise exam are eligible to sit for NTSE stage 2 exam.
  • Every state releases a merit list of students qualified for national level stage 2 exam.
  • Foreign nationals can directly apply for stage 2 exam. They are exempted from stage 1 exam.

  • Students have to download NTSE application form 2020 from the official website of states and UTs or could collect it from school authorities in the first week of August, 2019. 
  • Completely filled application forms should be signed  by the school principal.
  • Now, attach the required documents with application form and submit the same to the head or principal of the Institution.
  • The head of schools will further submit the completely filled applications to State Liasion Officer before the last date as stated in their application form. 
  • Some states have made the application process completely online.

How to prepare for NTSE 2020?

  • Cover whole syllabus: Students must go through the complete syllabus. Analyze your weak areas and work on them.
  • Practice Sample papers: Once the whole syllabus is covered, start practising the sample papers/ old question papers to have a better idea of exam pattern. It also reduces your exam day stress. Moreover, they can be downloaded and practised as many times as required.
  • Eat Healthily: Student must eat a balanced diet to avoid falling ill. Also, take breaks in between to keep your mind and body fresh.
  • Exercise: Students must also exercise regularly as it helps a lot in de-stressing.

According to the NTSE 2020 exam pattern, the exam for stage 1 and 2 is a multiple choice test consisting of two parts of 2 hours each-

Part 1: MAT (Mental Ability Test)- It comprises 100 questions of 1 mark each aim at testing the logical and analytical ability of the child.

Part 2: SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)- It also comprises of 100 questions divided into Social Science (40), Science (40) and Mathematics (20). It aims at testing the subject knowledge of the child.

NTSE Stage 2 Exam Pattern

Exam pattern for NTSE stage 2 remains the same as stage 1 exam. If there are any changes further it would be notified later.

NTSE Rajasthan Question papers are the best for exam preparation. Students can download the last year's papers and solve them as sample papers to know the difficulty level of the examination, type of questions asked, important sections and more.

NTSE Uttar Pradesh Mock Test

Candidates who are preparing for NTSE UP should practice with previous years question papers and sample papers. It will aid the candidates to be aware of marking scheme, exam pattern and typology of questions. By using the question papers, candidates will be also familiar with the difficulty level of exam.

NTSE Manipur Mock Test

Department of Education, Manipur publishes the question papers of NTSE Manipur to aid the candidates to prepare for the exam. These question papers are helpful to understand exam pattern, Marking scheme and typology of questions. So candidates should try to solve NTSE question papers in the stipulated time to manage their time.

NTSE Delhi Mock Test

Candidates should practise with previous years question papers to be familier with the exam patterns, marking scheme and typology of questions asked in the exam. These question paper also aid the candidates to understand the difficulty level of exam. Candidates should try to solve these question papers in the stipulated time and develop their time management skills.

NTSE Andhra Pradesh Mock Test

Directorate of Government Examination, Andhra Pradesh releases the question papers of NTSE for stage 1 exam so that the candidates can practice with question paper and prepare well for the exam. It makes the candidates aware of exam pattern, marking scheme, typology of questions in the exam.

  • NTSE admit card for stage 1 will be released by respective DGE or SCERT on their official website in the month of October 2019 by some states. 
  • Remaining states handed over the NTSE stage 1 admit card to candidates offline.
  • The admit card for NTSE stage 2 will be issued online on the official website of NCERT in April 2020. 
  • All those students who qualify for stage 2 exam must download the admit card. 
  • No student is allowed to enter the exam hall without admit card.

NTSE Odisha Admit Card

Admit card for stage 1 of NTSE Odisha was released on October 22, 2018, on the SCERT or TE Odisha website. Schools and Institutions also downloaded the admit card and candidates could collect the same from them.

NTSE Stage 2 Admit Card

NCERT will release the e-admit card for NTSE stage 2 exam. Candidates need to download, print a copy and paste a recent passport size attested photograph. The admit cards are collected by the centre superintendent on the day of the exam.

Documents Required at Exam

  • Admit Card
  • NTSE answer key is the document which mentions the correct answers in front of the question number. Students can use it to know their probable score by the time result is released. There is a separate answer key released for both the stages of NTSE. The answer key for NTSE stage 1 is released by respective DGE or SCERT while that for NTSE stage 2 is published by NCERT within a few days after the conduction of the exam. 
  • Some reputed coaching centres also release the answer key on the same day of the exam within a few hours after the exam is over.

NTSE Rajasthan Answer Key

  • Rajasthan Board and a few coaching institutes release the Rajasthan NTSE answer keys. 
  • The coaching institutes release the answer keys immediately after NTSE Rajasthan Stage 1 exam. 
  • The answer keys contain answers to all questions asked in stage 1 examination.

NTSE Uttar Pradesh Answer Key

The answer key of NTSE UP 2019 has been released officially. Candidates can download the answer key which contains the correct answers of all the questions asked in the exam. The answer key is helpful to get an idea about the probable score and verify the result. UP NTSE answer key is also released by coaching institutes.

NTSE Manipur Answer Key

NTSE stage 1 answer key for Manipur is released in online mode. Many of the private institutes also release the answer key which can be used to get an estimate about the marks in stage 1 exam. It is helpful to get an idea about the probable score and by comparing it with cutoff, candidates can have an idea about their selection for stage 2 exam. 

NTSE Andhra Pradesh Answer Key

DGE, Andhra Pradesh also releases the answer key of NTSE stage 1 exam so that candidates can check their estimated scores and by comparing it with the cutoff marks they can get an idea about their selection for the stage 2 exam. Answer key of Stage 1 NTSE 2019 has been released answer key of stage 1 exam for SAT and MAT papers. Private coaching Institutes also releases the answer key so students can also use that answer key.

  • SCERTs/ DGE of States & UTs will release the NTSE result for stage 1 exam in the month of March 2020. Along with the NTSE stage 1 result, cutoff and merit list of selected candidates is also released. Qualified candidates have to appeare in NTSE stage 2 exam on May 10, 2020. 
  •  NCERT will publish the NTSE stage 2 result in September 2020 in the form of a merit list of selected candidates for the NTSE scholarship.
  • The stage 1 result is declared at the state level while the result of stage 2 is released by NCERT at the national level. The NTSE stage 2 result will be provided on ncert.nic.in

NTSE Rajasthan Result

Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Rajasthan will announce the Rajasthan NTSE Result in the second week of February 2020 along with the cutoff. The result will be announced in the form of pdf file containg name and scores of the selected candidates. Qualified students of stage 1 are eligible for stage 2.

NTSE Assam Result

Director Of Secondary Education Guwahati, Assam will released the result of Assam NTSE 2020 for stage 1 exam in March. The result will be available in the form of merit list of selected candidates. The result list will contain the roll number and name of the candidates. Shortlisted candidates will appear for the stage 2 exam.

NTSE Punjab Result

  • SCERT Punjab will release the NTSE Punjab Result on in the last week of January 2020.
  • Candidates can check their result in online mode by downloading the merit list of selected candidates. 
  • The merit list will contain the name of the students, roll number and school's name along with the scores obtained by the students.
  • The overall result is also available to download for all the candidates.

NTSE Chhattisgarh Result

  • SCERT Chhattisgarh will announce the NTSE Chhattisgarh result 2020 in the first week of January 2020. 
  • The merit list contains the names and roll number of candidates who have qulaified NTSE stage 1 exam from the state.
  • Qualified candidates are eligible for NTSE Stage 2 Exam, to be held on May 10, 2020

NTSE Meghalaya Result

DERT, Shillong will release the result of NTSE Meghalaya 2020 in online mode. The result will be announced in the form of merit list of selected candidates. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the stage 2 exam.

NTSE Sikkim Result

SCERT, Sikkim releases the result of NTSE Sikkim in online mode. The result contains Name, Roll number, Father's name and School name of selected candidates. Selected students will have to appear for the stage 2 exam which will be conducted by NCERT.

NTSE Tamil Nadu Result

Tamil Nadu NTSE result will be released in April 2020 for all the candidates. Candidates can login and check their result. After the result declaration, the directorate will release the merit list of selected students along with cutoff. The selected candidates will compete at stage 2 exam and finally selected candidates will get NTSE scholarship.

NTSE West Bengal Result

Directorate of School Education, West Bengal will release the merit list of NTSE stage 1 in April 2020 along with the cut off marks.

Selected candidates will sit for stage 2, which will be conducted on May 10, 2020.

NTSE Uttar Pradesh Result

The result of UP NTSE 2019 has been revised in April 2019 in online mode. The result has been published in the form of merit list of selected candidates who are eligible to appear for the stage 2 exam. NTSE UP cutoff 2019 has also been published along with the result. Candidates who achieve the cutoff marks can find their name in the merit list. 

NTSE Jammu & Kashmir Result

JKBOSE has declared the rNTSE Jammu & Kashmir revised result or merit list on April 21, 2019. It can be downloaded in the form of pdf which mentions the details of candidates selected for stage 2 exam conducted by NCERT.

NTSE GOA Result

NTSE Goa Result 2019 will be announced in the month of February 2019. It could be downloaded in the form of pdf. It mentions the student's name and school name who have successfully qualified for level 2/ NTSE Stage 2 exam.

NTSE Uttarakhand Result

SCERT, Uttarakhand has released the result of NTSE Uttarakhand 2019 on January 16, 2019. Selected candidates will be eligible to appear for NTSE Stage 2 exam.

NTSE Gujarat Result

State Examination board has released the result of NTSE Gujarat. Candidates can check the merit list which mentions the name and details of the selected candidates who will appear for the stage 2 exam. Candidates can check result by clicking on the link, given above.

NTSE Manipur Result

NTSE Manipur result 2019 has been declared on February 22, 2019 in the form of merit list, which can be downloaded as a pdf. The file contains the basic details of selected candidates along with marks secured in the exam. Students who qualify stage 1 exam will appear for stage 2 exam.

NTSE Delhi Result

NTSE Delhi Result 2019 was declared on February 27, 2019 in online mode but later it has been revised due to increase in the number of scholarships. Revised merit list of selected candidates have been published which is mentioning the basic details of selected candidates along with the marks secured by them. SCERT Delhi also released the cutoff along with the result. The selected candidates will appear on the national level NTSE exam which will be held on June 16, 2019 and finally selected candidates will eligible to get the scholarship.

NTSE Himachal Pradesh Result

NTSE Himachal Pradesh result 2019 has been revised by SCERT, HP on April 6, 2019. Qualified candidates are eligible for NTSE stage 2 exam to be held on June 16, 2019. Check revised merit list by clicking on the link given above.

NTSE Kerala Result

SCERT, Kerala has revised the NTSE 2019 stage 1 result on March 30, 2019, in online mode. The result mentions candidates MAT, SAT and total score. Selected candidates will go on to write the NTSE stage 2 exam. 

NTSE Haryana Result

SCERT Haryana, Gurgaon has released the revised merit list of NTSE stage 1 for the state on March 22, 2019 announced on January 24, 2019, in the online mode. This came after NCERT increased the number of scholarships from 1000 to 2000 starting this year. Selected candidates will be eligible to appear for stage 2, which will now be held on June 16, 2019.

NTSE Madhya Pradesh Result

NTSE Madhya Pradesh Result 2019 has been revised by RSK in online mode. The result is published in form of merit list mentioning the name of the students qualified for NTSE stage 2 exam. Students can check and download the result in the form of pdf using the link given above.

NTSE Andhra Pradesh Result

NTSE Andhra Pradesh Result 2019 has revised on March 30, 2019, along with the cutoff. The result of NTSE 2019 Andhra Pradesh declared in form of a list of selected candidates. Students who qualify for NTSE stage 1 exam will appear for NTSE stage 2 exam to be conducted on June 16, 2019, and the result for stage 2 NTSE 2019 will declare in the month of September 2019. Finally selected candidates will be awarded scholarships.

NTSE Bihar Result

SCERT Bihar has published NTSE Bihar result 2019 in form of merit list of selected candidates. The result is released on the official website of SCERT on April 12, 2019. Candidates can check their result by clicking on the link given above.

NTSE Maharashtra Result

The result for NTSE stage 1 has been declared for all the candidates who appeared for the exam in online mode. The category wise cutoff and merit list of selected candidates has also been released along with the result. All the candidates who find their names in the merit list will appear for the stage 2 exam on June 16, 2019.

NTSE Chandigarh Result

NTSE Chandigarh Result 2019 will be declared in the month of February 2019. The list of selected candidates for stage 2 exam can be downloaded in the form of pdf.

NTSE Karnataka Result

SCERT Karnataka has revised the NTSE Karnataka 2019 result on April 4, 2019, in online mode along with cutoff. The result of NTSE Karnataka 2019 is released district-wise with scores of GMAT, SAT and total marks scored by all candidates.

NTSE Telangana Result

NTSE Telangana stage 1 result has been declared by Directorate of Government examination in the online mode. It is published in the form of a list of selected candidates for stage 2 exam which can be downloaded as a pdf. The list mentions the candidates' name, roll no., school address, category, marks and rank. Students who qualify stage 1 exam will appear for NTSE stage 2 exam.

NTSE Odisha Result

SCERT, Odisha has revised the NTSE Odisha 2019 result for Stage 1 on April 3, 2019. The result is released in the form of provisionally selected candidates for NTSE stage 2 exam. Along with the declaration of NTSE Odisha result 2019, the State Education Board of Odisha has also released the cutoff. The result of NTSE Odisha 2019 mentions a candidate’s name, roll number, school name and address along with the category he/she belongs to. Those who qualify in the first stage will be allowed to sit for the second stage of NTSE, which is the national level exam conducted by NCERT.

NTSE Puducherry Result

The Directorate of School Education(DSE), Pondicherry has announced the result of NTSE Puducherry Result in online mode. The result is published in the form of merit list of selected candidates for stage 2 exam.

NTSE Daman & Diu Result

State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Daman & Diu has released the result of NTSE stage 1 exam. The result is released in online mode in form of merit list of selected candidates and a total of 20 candidates selected who will appear for the stage 2 exam. Stage 2 is a national level exam which is conducted by NCERT.

NTSE Stage 2 Result

NCERT declares NTSE stage 2 result in September. It publishes a list of candidates with their roll number, name, fathers name and category. Students who qualify both the stages will be eligible to avail NTSE scholarship.

NTSE cutoff 2020 is the minimum score a candidate must obtain in order to qualify for the next stage. 

The stage 1 cut off will be released by the states while stage 2 cut off will be released by NCERT.

Students should attain a minimum 40% marks to qualify the examination while the minimum qualifying marks for physically handicapped students is 32%
