About NTSE 2019

National Talent Search Examination NTSE or NTSE 2019 is an offline national level scholarship exam for class 10 students to encourage Sr. Sec. and higher studies in the field of science and social science. It is held in two stages. Stage 1 of NTSE 2019 is conducted at state level by SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) or DERT (Directorate of Educational Research and Training) of respective states and union territories. Students who qualify Stage 1 exam will appear for the Stage 2 exam, which is conducted at the national level by NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training). NTSE Stage 1 exam is scheduled on November 3, 2018, for Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Andaman & Nicobar islands. For all other states and union territories, it is scheduled for November 4, 2018, except West Bengal, which will be held on November, 18. The application process is open and offline for most states and UTs. NTSE  2019 Stage 2 exam is slated to be held on May 12, 2019.

NTSE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Students currently enrolled in Class 10 from any recognized school/board including Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya are eligible to apply for stage 1 of NTSE 2019 stage 1.
  • States cannot impose domicile restrictions for NTSE 2019 stage 1 however they may add additional eligibility conditions such as qualifying score of the previous class.
  • Students studying from the open board, below 18 years of age, unemployed and appearing in class 10 for the first time are also eligible to appear for Stage 1.
  • Only Indian students are allowed to appear for NTSE Stage 1 exam.

NTSE West Bengal

  • A student must have cleared class 9 with 50% for general candidates (with a relaxation of 40% for reserved categories) and currently enrolled in class 10.
  • A student from the open board is also eligible to apply provided they must have scored 50% for general category (with the relaxation of 40% for reserved category) in their previous exams. They also must be below the age of 18 years.
  • Candidates belonging to OBC (non-creamy) as listed in the central list will be treated as OBC here.
  • Candidate must choose the district in accordance to the place of their residence.

NTSE Jammu & Kashmir

The Student must have scored 60% (relaxation of 5%  for SC/ST categories) in class 9 and upcoming class 10 exam for respective Jammu and Kashmir province.

NTSE Uttarakhand

In addition to general eligibility conditions, a candidate must have cleared class 9 with 65% marks for general and OBC category child with a relaxation of 55% for SC/ST/PWD category child to apply for NTSE Uttarakhand stage 1 exam.

NTSE Himachal Pradesh

  • The candidate must be presently enrolled in class 10 at a recognized school of HP board.
  • They must have passed class 9 with 60% for general category and 55% for SC/ST/OBC/PCG from any recognized school in HP board.
  • For candidate belonging to PCG category, disability should be equal to or more than 40%.

NTSE Kerala

Students studying in class 10 from any recognized board are eligible to apply for NTSE Kerala stage 1 exam provided they have passed class 9 exam with 55% marks (excluding language subject).

NTSE Puducherry

In addition to general eligibility, candidates availing NMMS scholarship are also allowed to appear for the stage 1 of NTSE Puducherry.

NTSE Stage 2

  • Students who qualify NTSE stage 1 state wise exam are eligible to sit for NTSE stage 2 exam.
  • Every state releases a merit list of students qualified for national level stage 2 exam.
  • Foreign nationals can directly apply for stage 2 exam. They are exempted from stage 1 exam.

Students need to download NTSE application form 2019 from the official website of states and UTs or could collect it from school authorities in the first week of August 2018. They must fill in the application form of NTSE, get it signed by the school principal and submit it to the State Liasion Officer before the last date as stated in their application form.

How to prepare for NTSE 2019?

  • Cover whole syllabus: Students must go through the complete syllabus. Analyze your weak areas and work on them.
  • Practice Sample papers: Once the whole syllabus is covered, start practising the sample papers/ old question papers to have a better idea of exam pattern. It also reduces your exam day stress. Moreover, they can be downloaded and practised as many times as required.
  • Eat Healthily: Student must eat a balanced diet to avoid falling ill. Also, take breaks in between to keep your mind and body fresh.
  • Exercise: Students must also exercise regularly as it helps a lot in de-stressing.

According to the NTSE 2019 exam pattern, the exam for stage 1 and 2 is a multiple choice test consisting of two parts of 2 hours each-

Part 1: MAT (Mental Ability Test)- It comprises 100 questions of 1 mark each aim at testing the logical and analytical ability of the child.

Part 2: SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)- It also comprises of 100 questions divided into Social Science (40), Science (40) and Mathematics (20). It aims at testing the subject knowledge of the child.

NTSE Stage 2

Exam pattern for NTSE stage 2 remains the same as stage 1 exam. If there are any changes further it would be notified later.

NTSE 2019 Admit Card

NTSE Odisha

Candidates can download the admit card for stage 1 of NTSE Odisha after October 22, 2018, from SCERT or TE Odisha website. Schools and Institutions may also download the admit card and candidates can collect the same from them.

NTSE Stage 2

NCERT issues E-admit card for NTSE stage 2 exam. Candidates need to download, print a copy and paste a recent passport size attested photograph. The admit cards are collected by the centre superintendent on the day of the exam.

NTSE 2019 Result

NTSE Jammu & Kashmir

JKBOSE will declare the NTSE Jammu & Kashmir stage 1 result or merit list in the last week of January 2019. It can be downloaded in the form of pdf which mentions the merit list of shortlisted candidates selected for stage 2 exam conducted by NCERT.

NTSE GOA

NTSE Goa Result 2019 will be announced in the first week of February 2019. It could be downloaded in the form of pdf. It mentions the student's name and school name who have successfully qualified for level 2/ NTSE Stage 2 exam.

NTSE Manipur

NTSE Manipur result 2019 will be declared in January/ February 2019 in the form of merit list, which can be downloaded as a pdf. Students who qualify stage 1 exam will appear for stage 2 exam scheduled to be conducted on May 12, 2019.

NTSE Delhi

NTSE Delhi Result 2019 will be declared in the second week of March 2019. It also releases a cutoff along with the result. It mentions the list of students qualifying for NTSE stage 2 exam.

NTSE Kerala

SCERT, Kerala will declare the NTSE 2019 stage 1 result either in last week of January or first week of February as a list of selected candidates for stage 2 exam. It mentions candidates MAT, SAT and total score.

NTSE Madhya Pradesh

NTSE Madhya Pradesh Result 2019 will be announced in the first week of February 2019. It publishes a merit list mentioning the name of the students qualified for NTSE stage 2 exam. Students can check and download the result in the form of pdf once it is officially released.

NTSE Andhra Pradesh

NTSE Andhra Pradesh Result 2019 will be published in the first week of February 2019 along with the cutoff. Students who qualify for NTSE stage 1 exam will appear for NTSE stage 2 exam to be conducted on May 12, 2019.

NTSE Chandigarh

NTSE Chandigarh Result 2019 will be declared in the last week of February 2019. The list of selected candidates for stage 2 exam can be downloaded in the form of pdf.

NTSE Telangana

NTSE Telangana stage 1 result will be declared by Directorate of Government examination in the second week of February 2019. It publishes a list of selected candidates for stage 2 exam which can be downloaded as a pdf. The list mentions the candidates' name, roll no., school address, category, marks and rank. Students who qualify stage 1 exam will appear for NTSE stage 2 exam on May 12, 2019.

NTSE Stage 2

NCERT declares NTSE stage 2 result in the third week of August 2019. It publishes a list of candidates with their roll no., name, fathers name and category. Students who qualify both the stages are eligible to avail NTSE scholarship.
