About KVPY 2019

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science(IISc) Bangalore. KVPY 2019 is a national-level scholarship program for meritorious students to pursue courses in basic sciences such as B.Sc., B. Stat, Integrated M.Sc., and M.S in either Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, or Biology. Class 11th, 12th & UG Science Students can appear for the KVPY fellowship exam under three streams - SA, SX and SB, respectively. Here are the highlights of KVPY 2019 exam

  • The exam conducting authority released KVPY application form on July 8, 2019, which could be filled till August 31, 2019. 
  • Students who submitted the applications successfully were able to download KVPY admit card 2019 from kvpy.iisc.ernet.in.
  • IISc Bangalore has conducted KVPY 2019 exam on November 3, 2019 in the online mode.
  • The exam was held in online mode for a total of 100 marks with a duration of 3 hours.
  • KVPY answer key 2019 has also been released for SA, SX and SB streams. Students can download them as pdf file to calculate their probable scores.
  • The authority has also released KVPY 2019 question papers as pdf file along with answer key to help the students who preparing for the next year exam.
  • The KVPY 2019 cutoff range between 32-59 as per stream and category of students.
  • The KVPY 2019 result for a written test has been declared online on December 10, 2019.
  • Only the KVPY 2019 written test qualifiers will be called for the interview process. 
  • After the conclusion of the interviews, the final KVPY result will be released in April 2020.
  • The final cutoff marks will be announced along with the final result.
  • The final marks allotted to candidates are calculated by giving 75% weightage to performance in the KVPY aptitude test and 25% to performance in the interview.
  • Candidates shortlisted in the final merit list will be awarded the following scholarship amount.
    SA/SX/SB- during 1st to 3rd years of UG/PG courses: Rs. 5,000/Month + Rs. 20000/annum
    SA/SX/SB – during M. Sc. / 4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat.: Rs.7,000/month + + Rs. 28000/annum

KVPY 2019 Eligibility Criteria consists of the nationality, minimum age limit, and minimum marks required. Students should meet the eligibility criteria before applying for the KVPY 2019. There are three different streams that are SA, SX & SB. The eligibility of each stream is different. Refer the below KVPY 2019 eligibility before filling the application form.

The eligibility criteria for all the categories of KVPY 2019- SA, SB and SX are different. While SA is taken by students studying in class 11, SX is for students in class 12 and SB is for students in their first year of undergraduate programmes. IISc has released the online KVPY application form on July 8, 2019. The last date to fill the online application form is August 31, 2019. The application is a three-step procedure wherein :

  • Step 1- KVPY registration. Applicants should have a valid email ID and mobile number to register for KVPY
  • Step 2- Fill Details- In the second step, applicants have to fill details including personal and academic, They also have to upload signature and photograph, 
  • Step 3- Pay Fee- In the last step, students have to make fee payment, which is to be done in the online mode via net banking, credit or /debit card payments.

The application fee for KVPY 2019 is Rs.1000 for general category students and Rs.500 for SC, ST and PwD students.  

Documents required for KVPY application form:

1. Scanned passport sized photograph in JPG/JPEG.  The image size should be less than 150 kb.

2. Scanned signature. The image size should be less than 80 kb. 

3. Scanned copy of caste certificate, if applicable. Pdf should be less than 300 kb.

4. Scanned pdf copy of medical certificate for PwD candidates, which should be less than 300 kb

The KVPY 2019 preparation tips are separate for SA, SB and SX separately. Here are some of the preparation tips:

  • Candidates must prepare the whole syllabus, avoid skipping any topics.
  • Students must practice previous year question papers and sample papers as many times as required.
  • They must also practice the mock test provided by KVPY which allows them to experience actual exam environment.
  • Exercise regularly and take breaks in between studies to keep you fresh and active.
  • Revise all topics a month before the exam.
  • Students preparing for competitive exams like JEE, NEET need not to separately study for KVPY as the syllabus is same. So they can easily go through KVPY exam.

Students can check the test duration, total marks of paper, subjects, the total number of questions asked and others in KVPY 2019 exam pattern. The question paper consists of four sections that are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. KVPY 2019 exam duration is 3 hours.

KVPY SA Exam Pattern

KVPY SA exam is a computer-based test consisting of 80 multiple-choice questions. It is divided into two parts, Part 1 & Part 2– 

  • Part 1 consists of 60 questions of 1 mark each for right answers and negative marking of 0.25 marks for wrong answers

  • Part 2 consists of 20 questions of 2 marks each for right answers and negative marking of 0.5 marks for wrong answers. 

  • The test duration of KVPY SA is 3 hours duration conducted from 9:30 AM to 12: 30 PM.

  • Attempting all questions is compulsory.

  • The question paper will be available in English & Hindi Language

KVPY SX/SB Exam Pattern

  • KVPY SX exam is a three hours computer-based test of 100 marks.

  • Part 1 has 80 questions of 1 mark each. 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. 

  • Part 2 has 40 questions of 2 marks each. 0.5 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. 

  • Students have to answer any 3 out of the 4 subjects in Part I and any 2 of the 4 subjects in Part II.

  • If students attempt all the questions, then the best of 3 in Part I and the best of 2 in Part II is considered.

  • KVPY SX will be conducted in the afternoon from 2:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The mock test of KVPY enables candidate to experience actual exam environment. Not only they get well versed with exam pattern, they also get to know about their weak areas which need to be focused more on.  Here are some points to note about KVPY mock test:

1. The KVPY 2019 mock test will be available both in Hindi and English

2. Candidates can sign in directly without using their login ID and password to access the mock test

3. The KVPY mock test is divided into two parts, comprising questions from Mathematics, Science, Physics and Chemistry

4.  The total duration of the mock test of KVPY is 180 minutes

KVPY admit card has been released on October 7, 2019 in the online mode. Candidates can download the admit card by entering their login details. Admit card of KVPY contains details regarding candidates roll no., name, exam centre, photograph, signature, exam slot etc. Admit card is an essential component to sit for the exam. No student will be allowed to write the exam without it. Candidates can download the KVPY 2019 admit card till the day of the exam i.e November 3, 2019.

  • IISc has released the official KVPY answer key for stream SA, SX/SB in online mode on November 6, 2019. 
  • The KVPY answer key helps candidates to analyze their answers and calculate their probable score.
  • KVPY 2019 answer key can be downloaded in pdf format separately for all three streams i.e SA, SB and SX. 
  • To download the KVPY answer key, candidates have to first select the stream that they wrote in the exam. Candidates can download the answer key and check the answer.  
  • On finding any mistake in the KVPY answer key, candidates have to inform the same to the conducting body. 
  • Along with the answer key, the conducting authority has also published the KVPY 2019 question papers.

IISc Bangalore has declared the KVPY result 2019 for aptitude test on December 10, 2019 in the online mode. The result of KVPY 2019 is announced in the form of PDF which contains the names, application number and roll numbers of shortlisted candidates for the round of interview. How to check KVPY Result 2019?

1. Click on the 'KVPY result' link given above. Then click on 'KVPY result 2019'

2. The pdf of merit list will be given stream wise and category wise

3. Select stream- SA, SX and SB for your category

4. The name, roll number and application number of shortlisted candidates will be displayed.

5. Download KVPY result 2019 on finding your name. This shall be carried for the interview.

5. Keep a copy of the result for future reference.

KVPY cut off is the minimum qualifying score calculated combined for aptitude test and interview. The students who qualify the KVPY cut off are eligible to avail KVPY scholarship. The merit list of KVPY is prepared based on the cut off of the exam. IISc releases both category-wise and stream-wise cut off of KVPY. CAN I APPLY FOR KVPY AFTER 12TH CLASS

Hello!!

You can apply for the stream SX exam and to be eligible,you must score a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in Mathematics and Science subjects (PCB) in Class 12th. You should have also obtained at least 75% (65% in case of SC/ST/PWD) in class 10th.

If you have enrolled yourselves in the first year of an undergraduate program in basic Sciences,then you will be eligible for SB stream exam and you will be eligible if you have a aggregate of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in Maths and science subjects in class 12th exams.
