CBSE 10th exam pattern 2019 - Central Board of Secondary Education has released the CBSE 10th 2019 exam pattern in the online mode. It is important that students who are preparing for the CBSE 10th exam know the exam pattern of CBSE 10th 2019 very well. CBSE will conduct class 10th board exam from February 21 to March 29, 2019. After the reintroduction of compulsory board exams, the CBSE 10th 2019 exam pattern consists of 80 marks for written annual/ board exam and 20 marks for internal assessment. The 80 marks paper would cover 100% of syllabus of theory subjects while the internal assessment segment consists of periodic tests, notebook submission and subject enrichment activities. This CBSE class 10 exam pattern 2019 creates room for continuous and comprehensive evaluation assessing the overall development of a child. Students must note that like in 2018, CBSE has relaxed the passing criteria for the year 2019 i.e. scoring 33% marks combined in both - theory and practical, would be considered as passing criteria. Students are not required to secure 33% marks individually in both the segments in order to clear the CBSE class 10th exam. Class 10th CBSE exam assesses students on a 9-point grading system. Corresponding to a range of marks, grades are given considering both formative and summative assessment. The nine-point grading table is given below:

Exam pattern of CBSE 10th 2019 - Internal Assesment (IA-20 marks)

The new CBSE 10th exam pattern 2019 has given the opportunity of assessing 20 marks to the schools on three different segments which assess a child’s creativity, punctuality, reading and writing skills and subject knowledge to name a few. It includes a periodic test of 10 marks, notebook submission of 5 marks and subject enrichment activities of 5 marks.

The Periodic test is usually a pen and paper test conducted two-three times in an academic year by the respective subject teachers. It not only evaluates a child’s knowledge but also gives an opportunity for the teacher to adopt remedial measures if any required. Exam pattern consists of a mix of questions, Very Short Answer(VSA) type questions, Short Answer(SA) type questions, Long Answer(LA) type questions or any other question as decided by subject teacher.

Notebook Submission accounts for 5 marks asses students on parameters of regularity, neatness, organizational skills. It could be done within the classroom teaching.

Subject enrichment activities contribute to 5 marks of internal assessment. It involves different activities like narrations, short dialogue conversations, presentations to asses a child’s reading, speaking and listening abilities for language subjects. While for subjects like Science, maths or Social Science one can go for lab activities, project work or map work. The maths question paper consists of 30 questions divided into 4 segments, Very Short Answer Type(VSA) Questions- 6 questions of 1 marks each, Short Answer Type Questions I – 6 questions of 2 marks each, Short answer type questions II – 10 questions of 3 marks each and Long Answer Type Questions – 8 questions of 4 marks each.

CBSE Class 10th Date sheet / Time Table

The datesheet for class 10th has been released on December 23, 2019. The CBSE class 10 board exams will be conducted from February 21 to March 29, 2019 in the morning session. The timing of the exams is 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Student must go through the detailed datesheet for CBSE class 10th and note all the exam dates to avoid any missing out.
